What is PRP?
PRP stands for “Platelet Rich Plasma”
• Plasma with a higher concentration of platelets than found in whole blood
• Once the plasma is injected into the skin tissue Platelets activate via the collagen within the skin and release the Growth Factors responsible for wound healing.
It is expected, that injecting you own plasma product we can replicate wound healing in targeted area’s to help with skin laxity, fine lines and mild to moderate wrinkles, skin texture and increase the vitality of the skin. The product injected is 100% your own blood by-product (autologous).
Due to the treatment being patient derived there are very few contraindications (mostly related to blood disease and illnesses). Side effects are also severely reduced, limited to swelling & bruising at the treatment site for up to 7 days.
DISCLAIMER: PRP is a cosmetic procedure and not currently intended for therapeutic use. While there many be many websites that show evidence for therapeutic use, this is anecdotal and based only on feedback and trials that are not currently backed by clinical research. We encourage patients to do their own research and see if this is a procedure that they would like to try. We do not and can not, by law, guarantee any results for PRP treatment, until such clinical trials, research and evidence is published by TGA and/or regulatory bodies.
PRP is considered and invasive procedure. As a medical clinic we use sterilised equipment and only TGA listed Regen tubes which do have clinical evidence to prove they are safe for use. If you would like to discuss any PRP procedure further, you may make an appointment with Dr Bascomb. There is a $250 upfront fee that is redeemable on any PRP or Laser treatment, should you chose to go ahead.

What is the treatment Process?
A Sample of blood is taken by a certified clinician in a specially designed tube which contains a patented gel which is FDA approved and TGA listed, clinically proved to optimise the quality and quantity of platelets collected.
To help make the injection process more comfortable, we place a topical anaesthetic on the treatment area to help numb the injection site.
While we let the topical anaesthetic work, your blood sample is placed in a centrifuge to spin down and separate the red and white blood cells from the platelets and plasma. The golden plasma is then carefully syringed out.
Once the topical anaesthetic has numbed the treatment site, we clean the treatment site to prepare your skin for application.
The application process involves tiny injections made into the dermal layer of your skin. Releasing the plasma enriched with platelets which may accelerate the healing process by increasing growth factors, regenerate and repair collagen, elastin and increase blood supply.
Standard treatment course would involve three sessions 1 month apart, and we encourage a 6-12 month to keep results optimal.
